independence day…
today is my second life rezday. for those of you who might not know what a rezday is, it’s basically your second life birthday. it’s the anniversary of the first day you rezzed in world and began your journey. (and it is a journey – no matter if you wish it to be or not)
i will be turning two, just as second life concludes it’s 5th year celebration.
two years seems like such a short amount of time (so does five for that matter) and while that might be true in real life, i’ve found that time moves differently in SL. fortunes change overnight just as in your first life… however, things seem hyper accelerated at times. learning curves are either exaggeratedly long or short at the beginning. relationships seem to come and go faster. you seem to want to pack more “life” into every online moment at first.
i think, after those first few months or a year (if you havent left or done something to be banned for life lol) i believe you settle into a rhythm. at least i feel it’s been that way for me, and i’ve spoken to other people who feel the same way. some get on second life by accident, and others on purpose. a few leave quickly, never to return… yet others have been leaving for years and always come back. – some come for one reason, and stay for another.
as i briefly look back on my two years in second life (and not to be cheesy) i can only be honored to have been a small part of it’s landscape, commerce and most importantly it’s residents. from the days that i used to sit in someone’s beautiful sim for hours… or the night a vampire fell and landed in front of me. the day i met my sister… who later introduced me to my other sister – to the time when i felt like i had a second home, and the people who ran it… or the occasion i met two lovely people, one of which knows more about music than i do.
the time i camped and the people i met.
the night i was introduced to the snowy wolf girl and mates.
when i met my sl brother.
the night i met the little death doll, the scarecrow and a kitten.
the day i met the wisest yet zaniest supermodel ever.
the time i met the ahhrrrtist.
the day i met liz taylor.
the night i met a little mouse in a crater.
each and every one of the people i’ve met has a story behind them. friends each and every one. (well almost everyone lol) but that little mouse i met in the crater has been a large part of the two years i’ve spent on SL (as well as RL) and i would like to thank her, and everyone that i’ve met along the way for making it interesting, fun and special. it’s been a pretty wonderful journey so far.
dedicated (lovingly) to those starting their second lives today:
future butterfly…
you’re gonna spend the day, higher than high.
you’ll be, beautiful confusion.
oh, once i was you.i saw you caught between,
all the people out making the sceen,
and a bright ideal tomorrow.
oh, dont go too far.
stay who you are.everybody knows.
everybody knows.
everybody knows.
you only live a day,
but it’s brilliant anyway.i saw you at,
the perfect place.
it’s gonna happen soon, but not today.
so go to sleep, and make the change.
i’ll meet you here tomorrow
